I want to introduce a project I have been working on a few months back; The Conscious Edit. This project evolved from a university brief, which had a short production scale and tight deadline. However, the journey and process throughout creating the publication were so rewarding. I hope to develop and continue The Conscious Edit (or ideas similar to this project) in the future.
I managed to collaborate with two amazing ethical fashion brands; Ethical Collection and Fort Dungarees, which I speak more about below. Both brands allowed me to photograph two outfits from their brand, which made up four photo shoots in the publication. These collaborations opened up two great professional collaborating opportunities. The photo shoots meant I got to photograph and chat with some amazing young women who modelled the clothing. I consciously aim to photograph (and continue to find more of) diverse models and edit very minimally in post-production.
I collaborated with Rachel Hill; an illustration student at Falmouth University, to create two beautiful illustrations. The two pieces supported the message of my publication about well-being for ourselves and the planet. It was great to incorporate a different creative medium into my project.
The Conscious Conversations throughout the publication were a conversation with a variety of young women. They are something I want to develop, learn from and continue to do in some shape or form. I love people, listening and learning from others stories. Conversations, honesty and authenticity are so healthy and needed; especially for well-being. Therefore I hope to continue doing so and developing my approach to these conversations/interviews.
The project overall was a new opportunity for me to learn and grow from. I developed many skills; from photography, time management, planning, collaborating, graphic design, interviewing and having personal and open conversations with new people...the list goes on.
